Hand-formed from A to Z.
The woman's head, base plate and vessels are treated with turquoise colour pigments and fired; I also glazed the snail shells and the clip in the woman's hair with a high gloss finish. The contrast makes the ensemble appear particularly lively.
The piece shows a young woman with a pageboy haircut and snail earrings, lined on the right and left by a semi-circular vessel, also decorated with snail shells. The two vessels are glued to the base plate, into which I pressed real snail shells, and sealed with an acrylic strip. They can be used in a variety of ways: lined with stones to give Tillandsias a hold, as small feeding bowls for birds or, filled with a little water, as a drinking trough for insects.
With the help of a hook, the object can be attached to the wall - for this purpose, the woman's head is hollow from behind (see photo).
